  • Forest Diamonds - Week 4

    Tue 26 Nov 2019
Week 4 of Forest Diamonds was all about Survival!
Today we competed against each other to build the best fire and keep it going for the longest time. The children made shelters that could be adapted for sleeping outdoors. Some enjoyed survival of the fittest by taking part in a tug of war competition. The session finished with a version of 'rock, paper, scissors' with a nature twist!
Snack today was s'mores- this was a big hit with everybody (oranges were also available)
  • Forest Diamonds - Week 3

    Fri 22 Nov 2019

Another fantastic session provided by Jenna and Lisa. This week we talked about different kinds of wood. The children were given the task to go and collect different branches and classify them. There was a challenge to find the longest, shortest, thinnest fattest etc. As you can see from the pictures there was an obvious winner for the fattest piece of wood.

During free time, the children chose lots of different activities. It is lovely to see them having the opportunity to explore nature and develop their social skills whilst doing so.

Todays snack was waffle and banana; The children thought these were delicious.

  • Forest Diamonds - Week 2

    Mon 18 Nov 2019

After a fantastic game of hide and seek, the children learnt the dangers of dropping litter. They were then given the task of finding as much litter as they could around our school field (some had been planted by Jenna and Lisa), unfortunately they found quite a lot!

They also got to practice their technique with the flint and steel and many of them were able to create sparks.

Snack of s'mores was definitely a hit- so much so that we have been promised a s'more party during the final session.

  • Forest Diamonds - Week 1

    Fri 15 Nov 2019

Today Class 2 enjoyed the first session of Forest Diamonds. Our theme for the week was Autumn Leaves and we learnt all about photosynthesis and why leaves change colour and die during the season.  We completed lots of activities including making leaf necklaces and bracelets, completing leaf hunts and identifying the type of tree they have fallen from, we also created leaf art that told a story.

All the children enjoyed their hot chocolates and snacks.

Everybody enjoyed the session despite being cold. Please make sure the children have lots of layers next week and a hat!
