Fairtrade Exhibiton

Thank you to Mrs Houghton for accompanying 4 of our children to a Fairtrade conference in Preston. The children learnt about the importance of fairtrade, what products can be bought and what work goes on with the farmers.

They completed a range of activities including winnowing (shelling) cocoa beans, making chocolate and completing a quiz. They are going to showcase what they have learnt for the rest of the children.

We have supported Fairtrade for a number of years. We will be holding a Fairtrade tuck shop in the near future.

National Teddy Day

Today is National Teddy Day, and what better way to celebrate than invite families, friends and parishioners into school. It was lovely to see the hall buzzing with activity; people laughing, making friends and generally having fun.

Our next community event will be the Special Ladies Day on Friday 13th March. This will be followed by a Lenten lunch which the school council are organising, the date is yet to be confirmed.

Rocksteady Assembly

Today, Jacob led a Rockstar assembly showing us what we can expect when we start the lessons in school. It was so exciting! Mr Wood and Mrs Higginson did a great job showing us what it would be like to be in a band. We can't wait for the sessions to start after half-term.

English Breakfast Day

Today was an early start for many of our families as they came to school early to celebrate English Breakfast Day. It was lovely to see so many people enjoying this special event.

Christmas Fair

Thank you to all that supported our Christmas Fair today. We have raised over £700 which is amazing for our little school. There's more money to come in yet.

Thank you to Julie's Tricyle Treats for donating the turkey, Susan Riley for sourcing and donating the presents, HH Balloon Co for offering a balloon stack and for all those that have given to the event in so many different ways. We couldn't have done this event if it wasn't for the amazing PTFA and all the staff.

We will announce all the raffle winners next week for those that were not there when it was drawn.

The winning bid for the doll was £60 and was won by an anonymous bidder.

Julie Anne was the lucky winner of the balloon stack.

 Ten Pin Bowling

This morning, six fantastic children represented our school at the Panathlon Ten Pin Bowling Competition organised by Wyre and Fylde School Sports Partnership. Competing against several other schools from the Fylde and Wyre area, our team showed incredible skill, resilience and teamwork. They had a fantastic time, scoring strikes and spares, and putting together an impressive team total.

We are thrilled to announce that our team came first and has qualified for the Lancashire Finals! Two of our children have joined the Panathlon 100 Club with individual scores over 100! We are so proud of every single one of you! Well done!

At St William's, we believe that all children should have the opportunity to experience as many possibilities as we can offer. It is inclusive events such as this that provide us with the opportunity for all our children to shine.

Thank you again to Wyre and Fylde School Sports Partnership and Panathlon Challenge for organising this event!

TTRockstars Day

TTRockstars Day did not disappoint!

Thank you for all the effort with costumes etc. Every time the children heard my music today, they had to go onto their game (TTRockstars or Numbots). We even had a mini music festival at lunch time.

Games, dancing, food and fun… what more could you want on a Thursday night?
Thank you to all the staff that gave up their evening to DJ, entertain and cook. We couldn’t have done it without you!

Pilgrimage to Ladyewell

I can’t begin to express how touching this morning was visiting the shrine at Ladyewell. The serene atmosphere of the shrine and its lovely grounds provided a wonderful chance for the children pause, reflect and find an inner sense of peace through personal and collective prayer. It was a deeply moving and calming experience for us all. The children were all well behaved and loved exploring the grounds and learning about the Martyrs who are honoured at the site. Our visit concluded with a Mass led by Father Francisco, which was a fantastic end to our visit.

Year 3/4 Multiskills Festival

Another fantastic afternoon of sport for the Year 3/4 multiskills festival. The children showed excellent teamwork and were a brilliant support to each other. We came first place which shows how hard the children worked.

Well done to all involved.

Mental Health Awareness Day

Today, the children, parents and staff took part in mental health awareness day. This morning we invited parents and carers in for a hot drink and cake (courtesy of Mrs. Houghton), this was a lovely opportunity for them to relax, chat and socialise with one another.

This afternoon the staff and children took part in relaxing reflective exercises, team building games and a session about keeping our minds healthy. It was so lovely to hear the comments off the children and see their supportive natures shining through.

Rosary

It was amazing to share in One Million Children Pray The Rosary this morning. It was lovely to pray with our parents, governors and parishioners, thank you to all that attended.

Year 5/6 Multiskills Festival

Eight of our amazing Year 5 & 6 children represented our school at a multi skills festival. They all had a great time and developed their team work skills.

Roald Dahl Day

Roald Dahl day did not disappoint! The children looked great and could tell me about the book that they had chosen. I loved the fact that we had a mixture of homemade and bought costumes. Please don’t feel that you need to buy costumes for these special days- often you can put a costume together with things from home.
