R.E. Transfiguration Art – Year 5 and 6
In R.E., we have been studying the event of the Transfiguration, when God appeared through Jesus. We explored the story and discussed its meaning. We also looked at different pieces of artwork inspired by the Transfiguration and created our own interpretations, using colour, light, and symbolism to express what the event means to us.
Science – Year 5 and 6
Life Cycles
In science, we explored life cycles, including learning about sexual reproduction in plants; to support our learning, we dissected real plants and categorised their parts.
Still Life Art - Spring 1
In art class, we focused on still life. We experimented with different still life mediums, both traditional and contemporary, using photography, paint, collage, and clay. For our final project, we created our own still life using a medium of our choice.
Athletics – Friday 23rd January 2026
We enjoyed the athletic competition and performed very well. We made our school proud by competing in different activities and showing great sportsmanship alongside schools.
Carols Around the Christmas Tree - December 19th 2025
Weather saw us move our 'Carols Around the Christmas Tree' inside. It was a joy to hear the children sing their hearts out for the adults in attendance.
Christmas Carols at Pilling Village Hall - 18th December 2025
This morning, children from Year 2 to Year 6 travelled a short distqance to go performance a selection of Christmas carols to senior citizens at Pilling Village Hall. The children had a wonderful time performing and celebrating the festive season together.
Santa Dash - 6th December 2025
Today, our school held a very successful Santa Dash. Staff and children enjoyed getting into the festive spirit and running around the playground together, whilst listening to Christmas music.
Geography - 4th December 2025
In geography, we have been exploring the UK in more detail and learning how to read OS maps. Today, we took our learning outdoors and mapped the school grounds, creating our own OS symbol and using compass points.
Mass at St Bernard's - 28th November 2025
Today, Meerkat Class were joined by Monkey Class as they took the short journey down the road to Knott End. They visited St Bernard's Church, which is part of our parish. They loved visiting and learning all about the church and taking in Mass led by Canon Paul Embery.
Bowling Competition - 26th November 2025
Another day, another opportunity for a group of our children. This time, six children from across the school represented our school at the Panathlon Ten Pin Bowling Competition organised by Wyre and Fylde School Sports Partnership. They competed with several other schools from the local area. Our team showed incredible skill, resilience and teamwork. Our team came first and qualified for the Lancashire Finals and two of our amazing children joined the Panathlon 100 club! We are so proud of every single one of you!
Football Competition - 18th November 2025
What a busy week! The day after the dance competition, a group of our older children represented our school at the small schools football competition organised by Wyre and Fylde School Sports Partnership. They tried hard, showed resilience and enjoyed the experience.
In Dance We Dream - 17th November 2025
Children from across the school performed on the famous Winter Gardens Stage for the dance festival. This was a truly amazing experience for them and one they should never forget. Our school was chosen for an award, this was given for encompassing the values that had been set out, and for how the older children supported the younger children. This was an unbelievable achievement and we can't express how proud we are of all the children!
Secret War - 7th November 2025
This afternoon, Key Stage Two travelled to Preston to visit the Museum of Lancashire for the 'Secret War' workshop. The children got to experience what life was like in the world of sabotage and espionage during WWII. The children had a great time getting into charater and dressing up as spies, becoming codebreakers at Bletchley Park, building a map for one of the D-Day landing sights, and learning to interpret aerial reconnaissance photographs. This was a valuable learning experience for our children.
TTRockstars Day - 24th October 2025
The whole school came together to celebrate TTRockstars and Numbots. The children loved getting dressed up and their outfits were outstanding! Every time the children heard music today, they had to go on to their game (TTRockstars or Numbers). At dinner time, we had a mini festival. It was an amazing way to end the half term!
Ladyewell Shrine - 22nd October 2025
This morning, the whole of Key Stage Two visited the shrine at Ladyewell. The serene atmosphere of the shrine and its lovely grounds provided a wonderful chance for the children to pause, reflect and find an inner sense of peace through personal and collective prayer. It was a deeply moving and calming experience for us all. They enjoyed exploring the grounds and learning about the Martyrs who are honoured at the site. Our visit concluded with a Mass led by Father Francisco, which was a fantastic end to our visit.
Tag Rugby - 19th October 2025
This afternoon, our Tag Rugby Team travelled to Fleetwood Rugby Club. The children played hard and managed to get some tries. They all really enjoyed their time and can't wait for the next opportunity to play rugby!
Multiskills Festival - 13th October 2025
This afternoon, Meerkat class attended a multiskills festival. The children showed excellent teamwork and were a brilliant support to each other. We came first place which shows how hard the children worked!
Mental Health Awareness Day - 10th October 2025
The whole school came together to take part in mental health awareness day. In the morning, we invited parents and carers in for a hot drink and cake. In the afternoon, the staff and children took part in relaxing reflective exercises, team-building games and a session about keeping our minds healthy.
One Million Pray The Rosary - 7th October 2025
The whole school came together to share in One Million Children Pray The Rosary. It was lovely to pray with our parents, governors and parishioners.
Mass of the Schools' Centenary Icon - 18th September 2025
The children in Meerkat class were invited to attend a celebratory mass at St Joseph's in Ansdell, Lytham St Annes. The children had a lovely time celebrating this memorable occasion alongside representatives from schools in our Fylde School Community. It was also a special day for three of our children who were altar servers.
Roald Dahl Day - 12th September 2025
The whole school celebrated the life and works of Roald Dahl. The children loved dressing up and getting into character. The day had lots of fun activities and an interactive webinar.
